AquaPlan - Garmin Swim Workout Builder
What is AquaPlan? AquaPlan is a swim workout generator for structured pool training. It helps swimmers, triathletes, Masters swimmers, and coaches build sessions with a clear warmup, drill block, main set, cooldown, rest intervals, repeat groups, and training zones. Build a session from scratch or start with 130+ structured workouts, then print a PDF for the pool.
Free versus Premium. AquaPlan Free includes the full workout library, PDF export, 3 builder use per week, unlimited session tracking, and up to 5 saved custom plans. Premium costs €9 billed monthly or €90 billed yearly (€7.50 per month). It removes the builder and saved-plan caps and adds Garmin-compatible FIT export. Coach costs €19 monthly or €190 yearly and adds workout import from text, photos, or PDFs.
Garmin workflow. AquaPlan is Garmin-compatible workout-planning software, not an official Garmin product. Build a swim session in AquaPlan, export a Garmin-compatible FIT workout file on Premium, import it through Garmin Connect, then sync a compatible pool-swim Garmin watch. AquaPlan is the planning layer before Garmin: it makes the swim set easier to write, edit, print, save, and reuse before it reaches the watch.
Who AquaPlan is for. AquaPlan fits self-coached pool swimmers, triathletes training the swim leg, Masters swimmers, and coaches writing sessions for a squad. Each generated session keeps a readable shape: a warmup to loosen the shoulders, a drill block for technique, a main set that carries the training goal, and a cooldown. Rest intervals and repeat groups stay explicit, so a set like 8 x 100 on a fixed send-off reads the same on screen, on paper, and on the watch.
You can filter the library by goal, level, and distance, adjust any block, then save the plan and reuse it week to week.
Garmin watches and open water. Swimmers comparing Garmin watches for pool and open-water use pair AquaPlan with a compatible Garmin device: build the structured swim in AquaPlan, export the Garmin-compatible FIT workout on premium, and follow it on the watch instead of memorising the set. AquaPlan does not track your swim or replace Garmin Connect; it is the planning layer that makes the workout easier to write and export before it reaches the watch.
For open-water sessions the same structure still helps you hold target pace and rest, even where lap counting is less reliable than in the pool.
